Former Obama Commerce Nominee Voting No

His withdrawal from being Obama’s Commerce nominee showed that he had principle, and it looks like the Republican from New Hampshire is going to vote with that principle. FOX News is reporting that Senator Gregg is going to vote against the Obama-Pelosi-Reid anti-stimulus package:

A day after dropping out of cabinet contention, New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg says he will vote against the $787 billion stimulus package.

Gregg said Friday the package contains a great deal of money that isn’t well spent. He said he can support a robust stimulus package that focuses more on shoring up the real estate market and keeping people in their homes. He said it also should have focused more aggressively on small business tax breaks.

The Washington Post is reporting that the Obama administration is “peeved” about Gregg dropping out and confused. They feel as if they’ve been played, and in a political sense they have, but only because Gregg has some (hopefully permanent) principles to stand on.
