Venezuela: A Slow Transition to Dictatorship
Venezuelan semi-dictator Hugo Chavez is on his way toward becoming an actual dictator, and while his country denied his attempt to end term limits a few years ago, his most recent attempt was unfortunately successful. No one can be sure how legitimate these elections were, especially considering the Chavez regime has turned guns on protestors before. The recent move in Chavez’s quest for dictatorship:
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — President Hugo Chavez won a referendum to eliminate term limits Sunday and vowed to remain in power for at least another decade to complete his socialist revolution. Opponents accepted defeat but said Chavez is becoming a dictator.
He’s sounding more and more like Fidel Castro every day, and it’s no surprise that he’s a hero amongst the Hollywood Left just as Chavez was before him. His speech after the electoral victory praised socialism, of course.
I like the title of your post.
