Voight Launches a Volley on Barack Obama

It’s not too often that someone from Hollywood comes out and really tears into a Democrat candidate. It’s been known for a while that Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight leaned a bit right, but it wasn’t until I read his most recent volley into Barack that I really understood that he’s one of the good guys. Check out this quote from his verbal lashing:

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

You are who you surround yourself with. Some Republicans might be afraid to talk about Reverend Wright and what he means to Barack Obama, but I’m not. The man is a racist America-hating asshole who doesn’t deserve to stand on a street corner let alone in front of a church preaching. The fact that Barack spent so much time at Trinity completely discounts any claim of good judgment. You don’t need to be an Academy Award winner to see this (though in Jon’s case, we appreciate that he is willing to say something). Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air wonders how many parties Jon’s going to get invited to now. I’m willing to bet a few less than before, but he sure as hell proved he has some balls.

  1. In the cited article, Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air seems to think that Jon Voight’s Hollywood career is over; well, anyways, he suggests that he hopes he is ready for his retirement. Morrissey is about to find out that Hollywood is about MONEY, and Jon Voight sells. Maybe you won’t find him marquee alongside Sean Penn, but he’s got some greats like Pearl Harbor (he was President Roosevelt), Enemy of the State, Mission: Impossible, and my all-time favorite movie and probably the most powerful cast ever assembled for a Hollywood actioner, Heat, where he played Nate, the enigmatic employer of a criminal syndicate run by Robert DeNiro. Hollywood doesn’t just throw an accomplished actor like that under the bus.

One thing Morrissey might be right on the money with: Voight probably won’t find himself invited to so many chateau dinner parties; and the ones he shows up at could be the scene of some kind of drama. Hollywoodians of the liberal persuasion can’t well keep themselves from coming “unhinged” very often.

Do any of you Hollywood observers out there know of any other accomplished entertainment giants are as in touch with reality as Voight? I’ve got a hunch there’s actually a groundswell of them that will ultimately serve to divide their culture into two camps - which I would venture to say may have already happened behind the curtain.
