Obama: Happily Giving $2.8 Billion in Subsidies to “Big Oil”
There has been much discussion (and justifiably so) the last few days regarding the energy crisis, namely the efficacy of drilling versus tire inflation.
Indeed, over-inflated tires do help with fuel economy (as McCain has noted on numerous occasions), however it is no substitute for an “all of the above,” cumulative energy agenda – one combining sensible off-shore drilling, nuclear power, clean coal, wind, etc.
House Democrats, evidently, have even less to offer than Obama’s “tire gauge” approach. While Democrats remain on their five-week, tax-payer funded vacations, their Republican counterparts stayed on the House floor (in the dark, thanks to Madame Speaker) to push for a vote on comprehensive legislation.
Today, the DNC, in a pursuit to always outdo the biggest jackass at DailyKos, unveiled their newest, poorly-researched attack: Exxon-McCain ’08. They ostensibly link McCain to “Big Oil,” but conveniently gloss over – as does Obama at every stump speech – Barack Obama’s support (and vote) for the 2005 Bush-Cheney Energy Bill. Who, you ask, did not support said legislation? I’ll give you two choices, but you’ll only need one. Hint: He’s very, very old.
Senator McCain took a principled stance against Cheney’s energy bill because of the $2.8 billion (That’s billion¸with a “b”) in “irresponsible” “handouts” it divvied out in subsidies to oil and gas companies. Barack Obama, eh, not so much.
I must admit, $2.8 billion could have afforded a lot of tire gauges, Senator Obama…
Much like your slackass surrogate, Jamal, stay classy, DNC.
the DNC is the biggest drainage of intelligence this country has. period.
